Value of the Impact of Marine Protected Areas on Recreation and Tourism Services REF: 809

Defra commissioned RPA to undertake this study on valuing the impact of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) on recreation and tourism services. The work included the development of a methodological framework and case studies.

This report sets out a methodology to assess the benefits of MPA designation on recreation and tourism. This methodology is based on the findings of a literature review on the economics of MPAs on recreation and tourism.

The methodology has been used to inform the revised Impact Assessment for the designations of Marine Coastal Zones.
