Training

RPA provides tailor-made training courses for a range of purposes, from an introduction to project appraisal, through the use of economics in estimating damages from flooding to detailed application of the tools and techniques available when undertaking flood risk management projects.  Being at the forefront of developing approaches to appraisal and decision-making, we are able to provide insights into what is happening and what might change, and how this could affect approaches to project appraisal in the coming years.

RPA has provided training courses to the Environment Agency, local authorities, Internal Drainage Boards and engineering consultants.  We favour an approach based on presentations of key information accompanied by the use of worked examples to provide hands-on experience.  We are able to draw on our experience of undertaking and reviewing project appraisals to illustrate the training with good and bad examples, highlighting how appraisal can (and should) be used to help identify the most sustainable solutions.
