Review of the Measuring Instruments Directive
The Measuring Instruments Directive has been in operation since 30 October 2006. Instruments that conform to the Directive are CE and M marked and profit from free circulation on the EU internal market. Member States may only require that instruments conforming with the Directive be used for tasks requiring legal metrological control in their territory.
The European Commission is required by law to report on the way the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) is being implemented. In this context it is considering whether instruments should be added to the Directive. This consultation is aiming at collecting information on sectors that are currently not covered by the MID.
Risk & Policy Analysts (RPA) has been asked by the European Commission (DG Enterprise & Industry) to collect more information on these sectors to help with the decision making process. (If you would like to confirm our credentials please contact the Commission’s Project Manager: Daniel.Hanekuyk at ec.europa.eu).
Please download and circulate the questionnaires to those who have an interest in these sectors. All data collected will be kept strictly confidential.
