Nigel Tuffnell, a Senior Consultant with RPA, has degrees in Chemistry and Environmental Management, Impact Assessment and Auditing and is part of RPA’s Chemical Risk Management Team. He has a background in research and development in the chemical industry. Prior to joining RPA, Nigel gained over five years experience of providing environmental advice to a large UK wide organisation.

Nigel has been involved in the assessment of EU and UK chemicals legislation and associated guidance in studies for EU and UK governmental bodies. He has particular knowledge of the application of REACH, biocides and pesticides legislation. Nigel also managed a RPA project to produce a guidance to support the introduction of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (for DG Enterprise and Industry and ECHA) and studies of the usage patterns of amenity pesticides. He was a member of the team that carried out studies on the impacts of the implementation of the Biocidal Products Directive (BPD) and the impacts of potential revisions to the BPD.
